Sorry, no coat of arms available. | USNS WATERS in her oceanographic survey ship configuration. |
USNS WATERS is the only ship in her class and the second vessel in the Navy to bear the name. Delivered in 1993 and placed in service as an oceanographic survey ship, the WATERS underwent a conversion to a navigation test support ship in 1998. She returned to service in 1999 and now supports the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs Office by assisting with submarine weapons and navigation system testing. The ship tracks missile test launches from Navy submarines to collect important performance data. The ship also conducts operational tests of upgrades to submarine navigation systems.
