USNS MISPILLION was the first of five former MARAD standard type T3-S2-A3 oilers which received a "jumboization" conversion in the mid-1960s. Commissioned in 1945, the MISPILLION was the first ship in the Navy named after the river in Delaware. Transfered to the Military Sealift Command in 1975, the MISPILLION was eventually decommissioned in 1991. Subsequently laid up in Benicia, Calif., as part of the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, the MISPILLION was finally sold for scrapping to ESCO Marine of Brownsville, Tx., in 2012.
