USS Plunger (SSN 595)

One of the PERMIT - class nuclear-powered attack submarines, the USS PLUNGER was the third ship in the Navy to bear the name. Originally authorized as an SSGN, the PLUNGER was laid down as an SSN. Both decommissioned and stricken from the Navy list on February 2, 1990, the USS PLUNGER entered the Navy's Nuclear Powered Ship and Submarine Recycling Program at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wash., on January 5, 1995. Recycling was completed on March 8, 1996.
