Accidents aboard USS TUCSON:

June 1996	Newport News Shipbuilding, Va.	USS TUCSON was hit by USNS GILLILAND (T-AKR 298). GILLILAND was under conversion and broke loose in 40mph winds from a Newport News Shipbuilding Pier. No information about the damage aboard TUCSON.

General Information about USS TUCSON:

USS TUCSON is named after the city of Tucson in Arizona. This town is also the home of Raytheon, the manufacturers of the Tomahawk Cruise Missiles.

One of TUCSON’s first deployments was in early 1998 when she deployed to the Arabian Gulf in company with the USS INDEPENDENCE Battle Group.
