USS CHEYENNE is the 62^nd and last LOS ANGELES class Attack Submarine. Because of the great number of ships in that class, there were already some decommissioned sister ships, when USS CHEYENNE was commissioned.

About the Ship’s Name, about the City of Cheyenne:

Cheyenne is the capital of the state of Wyoming. Named after a tribe of the Prairie Indians, the town was founded in 1867 as the end of the Union-Pacific-Railroad.

Today Cheyenne is the center of the mining industry in the southeast of Wyoming. Every July there is an annual big rodeo in Cheyenne.
